On Monday, January 13, 2025, the Special Adviser to the Katsina State Governor on Political Affairs, Rt. Hon. Ya’u Umar Gwajo-Gwajo, inaugurated a caretaker committee for the coalition of groups under the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The committee, which comprises over 15 members, will be chaired by the former deputy governorship candidate, Hon. Yusuf Ali Musawa. Its mandate includes organizing elections for the coalition's leadership and ensuring a transparent screening process for the groups within the party.

The screening aims to identify genuine groups while eliminating non-existent ones, enabling the government to support those that contributed to the APC's success in the 2023 elections.
Each group is required to pay ₦1,000 to obtain a registration form, which will be available at APC offices. The election process is expected to conclude within a month. However, the process will not dissolve any group but requires them to update their leadership to reflect current executives instead of past ones.
The committee includes prominent APC leaders and government officials. The Governor of Katsina State, Malam Dikko Umar Radda, authorized the establishment of the committee to benefit groups that played vital roles in ensuring the party's success.
During the inauguration, the Chairman of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON) in Katsina, Hon. Engr. Bello Lawal Yandaki, represented by the Chairman of Katsina Local Government, Hon. Aminu Ashiru Kofar Sauri, urged local government chairmen to embrace these groups and provide them with the necessary support to strengthen the APC and its administration.
This new screening initiative underscores the government’s commitment to fostering unity and progress among APC-affiliated groups. It demonstrates Katsina State's dedication to providing fair and inclusive governance opportunities to its citizens.
